Appointments

Request an appointment by visiting our Consulting Room.

We aim to provide efficient access to medical care for all our patients. In order to balance the demand with the supply of nurse and doctor time available, we allow 10 minute appointments for each patient. This is in line with the national average.

Inevitably, some patients do require longer than 10 minutes and as a result a doctor’s surgery may run late.

Does more than one family member need to see the doctor?

If so, please request a separate appointment for each person. If you have several different problems to discuss, feel free to make a list, but be prepared to discuss the most important issues first. If there isn’t enough time in the 10 minute slot, it might be necessary to request another appointment.

Routine Appointments

We book routine appointments online, up to 3 weeks in advance, with some members of our clinical team. You may need to wait for a routine book in advance appointment. It is common at most practices to sometimes have to wait more than two weeks for such an appointment. However, please do bear in mind that several further appointments are made available each day. You can also request appointments via our online services, if you are not registered please complete our form.

Urgent Appointments

For urgent appointments, we run a “same-day clinic”. This clinic deals with new health problems, which need to be seen on the same day. For example, new chest infections, acute pain or otherwise urgent problems can be seen in the same-day clinic. A re-occurrence of a long-term problem should be seen in routine clinics.

Extended Hours

Attleborough Surgeries provides an extended hours service on some days with early morning surgeries starting at 07:00 and evening surgeries running until 20:00. We also provide regular pre-bookable telephone appointments on Sunday.

These appointments are available to all patients, but are more likely to suit those patients who find it difficult to get to the practice during normal office hours.

Available sessions at Station Road Surgery are:

  • Tuesday – 07:00-08:00 (GP, emergency care practitioner and nurse clinics)
  • Wednesday – 18:30-20:00 (GP and nurse clinics)
  • Friday – 07:00-08:00 (GP, emergency care practitioner and nurse clinics) and 18:30-20:00 1 in 4 Fridays (GP clinics)
  • Sunday – From 09:00 (GP telephone clinic)

When you attend at Station Road Surgery for an extended hours appointment (before 08:30 or after 18:00) please go to the back door and press the intercom for admission.

Missed Appointments and Lateness

Please ensure that you contact us to cancel your appointment if you can no longer make it or no longer need it.

We have approximately 180 missed appointments per month, this is a valuable resource which other patients could use. Alternatively, if you are set up with our text message reminders, you can then cancel your appointment by return text.

Please arrive before your appointment time to ensure you don’t lose your place. The doctor or nurse may not be able to see you for your appointment if you are late. This ensures that our clinicians have time to provide patients with the quality of service that they deserve and ensures that other patients are not kept waiting unnecessarily.

If you continue to miss appointments and do not let us know, we will write to you to see if there is anything that we can do to help. However, if you continue to miss appointments, this may result in us contacting NHS England to ask to have you removed from our registered patient list.
